Hi, and thank you for your interest in wanting to learn something more about me. My official first name is Kamila, but my boyfriend often refers to me lovingly as "Kamka" :). I live in Canada where I've moved to at the age of twelve. At the age of sixteen, I've moved to Toronto, where I've since lived and studied. I completed a four-year Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a university-level TESOL Certificate in a major Canadian university.

I have decided to do this project with folktales because I believe it might provide information for people to learn more about the tradional and literary culture of my native country, as well as provide inspiration and enjoyment. Folktales were a very important part of my life when I was little. They showed me the difference between right and wrong andand helped me to form and establish my moral values. They were also a source of entertainment and leisure time for me with my family; when I was five years old I remember my grandfather used to come visit us almost every week and we always read some fairy-tale stories together, until I have learnt to read myself. I have background of both the Czech, Slovak, and also Hungarian ancestry, which is why I have decided to put folktales and myths of the Czech as well as the Slovak origin on here. Unfortunately, I don't understand or speak the Hungarian language, but if you are interested to learn more about the traditional Hungarian culture, you can perhaps read Kate Seredy's books The Good Master, and The Singing Tree; these provide a good overview of life in Hungary as it used to be at the beginning of the past century, and also have some very inspirational children's fairy tales embedded within them.

I have several hobbies:

• reading;
• playing with my cats;
• spending time with my boyfriend;
• writing poetry and prose;
• listening to music (all kinds);
• sleeping;
• going to school (university is fun!)
• Scrabble word-game and "LOGIK"
  (a game in which you try to logically deduce the colour and position of five hidden blocks based on the clues your partner gives you);
• going for walks around the park (and feeding squirrels!);
• hiking in nature;
• in terms of sports, I enjoy leisurly swimming and skating, as well as aerobics.
